Julia Mitford started singing as a child with her family band The Mitford Family and performed at a wide range of folk festivals around the North of England as well as making several tv appearances, and appearing on Kathryn Tickell’s Bright Young Things on BBC Radio Newcastle. In her late teens Julia took an interest in Jazz & Contemporary music gaining a Higher National Diploma at Newcastle College. After working for 10 years as a music librarian and emigrating to Australia Julia is returning to her folk roots, singing traditional Geordie & Northumbrian songs as well as some songs written by her father, Wilf Mitford, and featured on this blog.
